• ISLAND TOURS

INTERISLAND AIRWAYS
Interisland airways now has two fully narrated tours to see Hawai‘i’s volcanoes. “The Fabulous Volcano Orchid Tour” is an all-day affair (6 a.m. to 6 p.m.) for all ages. The tour begins with a “flightsee” of O‘ahu, Moloka‘i, Lana‘i, Kaho‘olawe, Maui and the island of Hawai‘i, where it lands for a “sightsee” tour to Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park. Or, go on “The Twilight Lava Walk & Eco Tour” (closed shoes required and children must be 8 years and older). This is an afternoon pickup and begins with a “flightsee” of O‘ahu, Moloka‘i, Lana‘i, Kaho‘olawe, Maui and the island of Hawai‘i. The plane lands on Hawai‘i to see the beautiful rainforest and newly formed black sand beach. Then, walk across the “frozen fire” at Kalapana to view the steamy fury of the volcano exploding into the ocean at twilight. For information and reservations, call (808) 836-8080 or toll free 1-888-999-9015.

KUALOA RANCH
Take a 4,000-acre working cattle ranch–spread from steep mountain cliffs to the sparkling sea–add horseback, ATV and narrated Jungle Expedition Tours to create a destination that offers a great time for everyone. Kualoa Ranch, on the northeastern side of O‘ahu, is a visit to the country with the charm of a neighbor island, and just a half hour from Waikiki. The ATV tour takes riders into the valley where “Jurassic Park” and other feature films were made. Riders traverse ancient valleys and jungles, go beneath mountain cliffs and through hundreds of acres fo beautiful scenery. Horseback riders take different trails which wind beneath the cliffs and overlook the ocean, offering vistas of Mokoli‘i Island and ancient Hawaiian fishponds. Narrated tours of the ranch travel to movie sets, flower and gardens, and historical exhibits. For more information, call (808) 237-7321.

PACIFIC AVIATION MUSEUM
In the center of Pearl Harbor’s historic sites, the Pacific Aviation Museum occupies World War II-era hangars that still bear the scars of our nation’s first aviation battlefield. Dedicated to showing the patriotism, valor and sacrifices made by our American aviators in the Pacific, the museum presents rare American and Japanese airplanes such as a 1942 Japanese Zero and many other exhibits. Purchase tickets at the USS Bowfin ticket office then ride the Bowfin Trolley to the museum on Ford Island. For more information, call (808) 441-1000.
