Welcome to the island
of O‘ahu, “The Gathering Place.”
O‘ahu is the most populated island in the state with
approximately 75 percent (900,000) of its 1,211,537
residents and armed forces personnel.
Honolulu, the largest city on O‘ahu and in
the state, is the capital of the state and the City
& County of Honolulu. Waikiki Beach is located
on O‘ahu and is probably the best known location of
Honolulu. The bulk of O‘ahu’s visitor accommodations
are in Waikiki.

Memorials, large military bases, National
Cemetery of the Pacific, University of Hawai‘i-Manoa,
Polynesian Cultural Center and other major visitor
attractions. Major sporting events (NFL Pro Bowl,
Sony Open Golf Tournament, Rainbow Classic Basketball
Tournament, the Honolulu Marathon and larger concerts
(Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson, Celine Dion, Gloria
Estefan and many others) are also held on O‘ahu.
