MAUNA KEA SUMMIT ADVENTURES
Mauna Kea Summit AdventuresSince starting in 1983 with a Land Cruiser and some sweaters, Pat Wright and his guides have made more than 5,000 trips to Mauna Kea. Now they use comfortable 4X4 vans and hi-tech telescopes, but their aloha for the mountain hasn’t changed a bit. On the way up you’ll learn about Mauna Kea’s geology, flora, fauna and its unique place in Hawaiian culture. On top, learn about the world’s largest telescopes and experience the sunset of a lifetime. Later, at mid-mountain, be awed by the night sky–viewed with the naked eye and through a telescope.
